Fertile Ruins is a bi-monthly Trans* & queer performance night dedicated to artistic celebration as a means to engaging with the brutal realities of our world more deeply together. It is a home for queers and our allies where creative experimentation meets political consciousness in an active community space. Each night is hosted in collaboration with a local activist or mutual-aid organization to raise awareness and money for their important work. During the night 3-4 artists of various mediums present raw, fresh work that’ll make you laugh, cry, think, and sometimes pee your pants (just a bit). There’s food and drink and a musical act to get your boot shaking.
We always raise money for an activist or mutual-aid project we have some relationship or connection to. We’ve raised money for Don’t Go We’ll Fund It, ASEED, The Fruit Basket, Bangs Festival, and The Mesoamerican Caravan for Climate and Life, The Bijlmer Bookstore, Plant een Olijfboom (Plant an Olive Tree), El Sufra.
