I am a writer, performer, and creative facilitator whose work focuses on the intersection of community, culture, and identity. How does the way we see ourselves, and how others perceive us, affect how we belong and connect with others? How do we create a sense of right and wrong within that reality? As a queer-trans artist these are deeply political questions that speak to fundamental power dynamics at play in our society. My work attempts to question these dynamics by cultivating culturally-empowered audiences who are invited to take an active role in the art making.
Raised in the theaters of Seattle, WA, I have been performing and creating since I was eight. I have performed up and down both coasts. Most recently I have performed with the A.O. Movement Collective, Vanessa DeWolf, and Syniva Whitney’s Gender Tender. I am also a founding member of Future Husband an international performance collective.
As a writer I focus on the connections and conflicts between trauma, desire, and communal identities. Firmly situating my writing in an expansive queer identity, aesthetic and theory, I seek to explore my personal experiences in a shifting queer landscape. My writing has appeared in T(OUR) Magazine, The Bent Mentor Showcase Anthology, and Hoax.
Since 2008, I have been leading art-based workshops for a diverse array of groups from Washington Young Emerging Labor Leaders to Islandwood Masters of Education candidates. I first learned creative facilitation through the Creative Communities model at the Power of Hope. My facilitation work is anchored in the belief that the arts are a powerful tool for self-exploration and transformation.
